I noticed our first Ithuriel's spear (Triteleia laxa) flowers yesterday. Getting a photo was my initial objective. All the flowers on this plant are very pale. Their color may get darker and more intense as they mature.
We have over 60 poppy flowers now. This one caught my eye because of the more yellow color compared to the others.
This orange color is common right now. A few are wide open like this and the previous flowers and one or two are already dropping petals.
I strolled along a different path and saw a strong yellow color on this dutch hyacinth plant. M y first crab spider of the year! I didn't notice the second spider at the time.
A closeup of the crab spider. Quite vivid and showy on the purple flowers but it's lousy camo.
I went outside again for another Ithuriel's spear picture in different light.
And I spotted beetles on poppy flowers.
Most of the beetles were hiding in the middle of the flowers or scurrying around. Thie beetle on the left was cooperative for a few seconds.
A closeup of the beetle.
