  • We found a willow tree surrounded by non-native grass.
  • Some people raked leaves while others dug out grass.
  • Still others used hula hoes to remove seedling grasses that came up after the first rains.

  • But we kept digging and finally we got enough of the root that it shouldn't be able to recover.
  • We disturbed a fence lizard in the leaf litter.
  • Mary talked about the characteristics of soil while we took a break.
  • She had samples that showed how different size soil particles behave.
  • Some people tried deducing the composition of wet soil from the way it felt when they rolled it between their fingers.
  • After that, we took a group shot for the Friends of the Creeks video.
