The patch of checker lilies was just as good as James said. There were plants at different stages and with different colors.
This one was mighty yellow.
These petals had started to wither, allowed us to see the stamens and pistil ckearky.
The curves of stems and leaves addded elegant accents to the flowers themselves.
Exotic colors and shapes.
A dark flower at peak and one withering.
Love that dark red-brown color. I've seen a number of these flowers but I still find the color and shape to be striking.
A view of the back side of the flower.
Behind the withering petals, you can see the green structure that will become a seed pod.
The petals and stamens have fallen off leaving the developing seed pod.
